Thomas Chippendale (1718-1779) was a cabinet maker & furniture designer from London who specialized in the mid-Georgian, English Rococo & Neoclassical styles. His designs & chairs are regarded as establishing the fashion for furniture for that period and are still used today.
I have a secret confession, ok not so secret. I have an obsession with his Chippendale Chairs. I loved the bamboo structure, crossed design in the back and the simple cane seats. I am constantly on the hunt for a set for my dining table. I scour, eBay, craigslist, garage sales and flea markets. Because of the classic design, the chairs can go in any style decor. You can make them a more neutral white or black with a simple fabric or paint them with a bright high gloss color and add a cushion with a wild fabric.
